Alpacas
If it has to do with our alpacas, you’ll find it here. These creatures are wonderful and vexing creatures. They are often confused with llamas, however, an alpaca is smaller than a llama, usually by half!
Their reputation for spitting is overblown. While they do spit, alpacas usually reserve the spitting for each other in matters of dominance or disapproval, and keep it away from the humans in their lives. That isn’t to say they WON’T spit. We’ve one that gets me when I shear her every year, and I am occasionally caught in the cross-fire between two arguing alpacas.
Their fleece is amazing any their fiber is known for creating fabulous socks. I shear my alpacas every year and try to process the fleece myself. This involves washing, picking, and spinning. It is a long process to do by hand, but I keep at it.
