Angora Goats

We raise angora Goats on our farm, Mo’Paca Farm and Fibers.  These little stinkers are so cute, but can be trouble!  I personally have had 4 teeth knocked loose, been knocked unconscious, and had more bruises than I can count.

Originally from Turkey,  angora goats are another animal raised for its fiber, called mohair.  I shear these guys twice a year, and get fiber that is about 5″ long each time.  They are easy keepers, although not as easy as the alpacas.

A grown angora male can weigh over 200 lbs and have a magnificent set of horns.  Females are smaller, with my largest one topping out at about 140 lbs.  The females also have horns, but they are smaller and not as wonderfully curling as the males.
