Hot
Vernon, BC was hot! And, the enormity of what I was wanting to do had finally hit me as I had ridden into Canada the previous day. I didn’t sleep well and the anxiety was hitting me. I talked to my family and felt much better. I loaded up the bike and hit the road.
It was already in the 80’s when I left and I was looking forward to going north and up in elevation. While I didn’t make a single stoplight while in British Columbia, they did have these convenient warning flashers before you got to the light so you have plenty of time to know if you’re going to have to stop. There was no chance that I’d bust through a yellow!
A pattern?
Eventually, as I rode up in elevation, it cooled off and even started to rain. I’d heard so much about Mount Robson and the beauty of it and the Robson River from my BFG, so I was excited to see it. In fact, riding over to the campground was out of my way and I was going only to see it for myself. I got excited when I saw a “Caution Bighorn Sheep” sign, but I didn’t see any. A bit further down the road, I saw a “Caution Bears” sign, but I didn’t see any bears. Later still there was a “Caution Moose” sign, but once again I was skunked and no moose were sited by me. Sigh.
About an hour and a half from the Robson River Campground, the sky opened up and it poured on me. Well, I was looking forward to cooler weather… It was an epic rainstorm and I struggled to ride through it. I’ve a lot of experience riding in the rain, so I was okay, but I don’t really enjoy riding in such driving rain. I eventually made it to the campground and got set up,

then waited for a break in the storm to take some photos and prepare some dinner. After a couple of hours waiting in the tent for the rain to let up, it left and I had a bit of dry, or at least no rain actually falling.
Beautiful
The clouds were still heavy and I never did get to see the whole mountain, but see some of it I did. It is, at least what I could see, a very beautiful mountain.

The river too was beautiful. Though the gray of the clouds changed the beautiful aqua color of the glacial river, it was still pretty. I got a few shots of around the campsite, but the rain didn’t hold off long. It came back, though not as drenching as earlier, so I went to bed. Hopefully things would dry out tomorrow.
You’re on your way! Jimmy and I have a pic of us with majestic Mount Robson looming in the background. I envy you this trip (not the rain, tho, no matter how cooling it might be), and I hope you have a super great and terrific time. Can’t wait for your next post. Take care. Love you, sister!
